My journalistic inspiration comes from my multicultural identity. I am a Yemenis, Romanian, Hungarian, Danish, and Jewish immigrant from Israel. I am drawn to cultural stories that focus on the beauty and struggles of identity. Over the past two years, I've focused on human-centered stories about a variety of cultures, both in Oregon and abroad.
This was my first cover story. I pitched the story in December, 2022. During January I conducted in-person and phone interviews with students, organizers and participants of the Daffodil Project. I also attended a planting event and took photos for the piece. The cover photo was taken by Kai Kanzer, a Daily Emerald photographer, but I provided art direction.

I pitched this story in hopes of showing a new aspect of Ukrainian identity that hadn’r been widely shown in the media. I conducted interviews with a few Ukrainian individuals in the community, including event organizers. I attended the event with Molly McPherson, a Daily Emerald photographer. I provided McPherson with context for the photo captions.

During my internship in Accra, Ghana, I worked on articles collaboratively with other reporters at The Finder Newspaper. I attended a private screening of BBC’s African Eye documentary with Christabel Oboshie, my co-writer and mentor. Following the event I sent her several drafts. She guided me on language and news judgment and sent the final piece to the editor.

I photographed a candlelight vigil held two days after the Hamas attacks on Israel. I freelanced the photos to KVAL, a local publication in Eugene, Oregon.
